PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartridge type hollow fiber membrane module from which a hollow fiber membrane element can be detached easily and which has a high-reliability sealing mechanism. SOLUTION: This hollow fiber membrane module is provided with the hollow fiber membrane element which is composed of many hollow fiber membranes and in which at least one end face of each of the hollow fiber membranes is sealed and fixed with a resin in an opened state, a partition wall to which the sealed/fixed part of the hollow fiber membrane element is fit, a casing for housing the hollow fiber membrane element and the partition wall and a cap having a inflow part of a liquid. An O-ring is arranged on the peripheral side of the partition wall so that the gap between the partition wall and the casing can be sealed by bringing the O-ring into contact with the inner wall of the casing. The inside diameter of a flange part of the cap is made smaller than the outside diameter of the partition wall. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
