摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayered phase transition type optical recording medium which has &ge;2 information layers having recording layers and which can increase a contrast between crystalline and amorphous substances even if the recording layer on a light incident side is made thin and which decreases reproduction errors and has excellent reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The multilayered phase transition optical recording medium has the &ge;2 information layers having the recording layers capable of recording the information by a reversible phase transition between the crystalline state and the amorphous state by incidence of light. The at least one information layer formed on the deepest side when viewed from the incident side of the light consists of a first protective layer, a recording layer, a second protective layer, a reflection layer and a thermal diffusion layer, and the refractive index of the second protective layer in a recording and reproducing wavelength region is made smaller than that of the first protective layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
