<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a method for making it possible to produce trimethylcyclohexyl-alkan-3-ol containing a trans isomer of formula D (R is H, Me, Et, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl, iso-butyl or tert-butyl; and R1 is Me, Et, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl, iso-butyl or tert-butyl) in, preferably, a high ratio or a mixture of several kinds of similar compounds, by conducting only one reaction stage of an educt simply obtainable at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing the trimethylcyclohexyl-alkan-3-ol containing the trans isomer of formula D in a specific ratio or the mixture of several kinds of the similar trimethylcyclohexyl-alkan-3-ols comprises catalytically hydrogenating one, two or more kinds of corresponding compounds of formula B in the presence of a nickel catalyst, preferably Raney nickel, but in the absence of copper chromite in a catalytically active amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
