PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid jet device having a wiping means that is adapted to wipe a liquid jet head at a wiping section and to bring the wiping section into contact with the liquid jet head by a comparatively large pressing force by maintaining a flexibility in a simple structure, and capable of preventing the deformation or breaking thereof as much as possible. SOLUTION: A wiping mechanism comprises the wiping section 29 to be brought into contact with a nozzle plate 21 of a recording head 20 and a support section 30 for supporting a body 29a of the wiping section 29. Each of the wiping section 29 and the support section 30 is formed of a material such as an elastomer having a high flexibility. As the body 29a of the wiping section 29 is supported by the support section 20, the wiping section 29 is hardly bent and the tip portion 29b of the wiping section 29 is bent in a moving direction of the recording head 20 when the wiping section 29 is brought into contact with the nozzle plate 21. As a result, the tip portion 29b of the wiping section 29 is pressed against the nozzle plate 21 to be intimately contacted therewith. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
