GLASSWORT TAFFY COMPOSITION AND PRODUCTION METHOD OF GLASSWORT TAFFY CONTAINING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing a taffy(yot) composition by adding glasswort(Salicornia herbacea L.) powder to the conventional taffy material is provided. The manufactured composition possesses pharmacological action of Salicornia herbacea L. as well as the characteristic taste thereof. CONSTITUTION: A grasswort taffy composition contains 0.01 to 20% by weight of Salicornia herbacea L. having a size of 150 to 180 meshes. A gelatinized starchy farinaceous material is heated with malt liquid while agitating to saccharify and concentrated to give grain syrup(chochung). The grain syrup is then mixed with Salicornia herbacea powder and concentrated to give a final product having a moisture content of 8 to 15%. The starchy farinaceous material is rice or corn, the main material of the malt liquid is barley or wheat.
