<p>The invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising cyclic guanosine monophosphate phosphodiesterase type 5 (cGMP PDE5) inhibitor, sildenafil citrate, pharmaceutically acceptable solubilisers and penetration enhancers, along with thickening agents, buffers, emulsifiers and pharmaceutically acceptable surfactants and preservatives, for transdermal delivery to the erectile tissue of the penis, a process of preparing the said composition and method for treatment of erectile dysfunction / vasculogenic impotence by direct/topical application of the transdermal composition to the tissues covering the corpus cavernosum and to the glans penis. The transdermal delivery vehicle for topical application of the composition according to this invention may be in various forms such as gels, ointments, creams, lotions, emulsions and sprays.</p> |
