A bearing seal 1 for a universal joint, in particular for a vehicle steering column, comprises a first portion 2 made from a plastics material and which is joined to a second portion 3, made from an elastomeric material (eg. synthetic rubber) and wherein the plastic material of the first layer has a greater hardness than the elastomeric material of the second portion 3. The first portion 2 is arranged so as to bear against a cross-piece 6 of the universal joint, whilst the second portion 3 is provided with at least one lip 7, positioned so as to bear resiliently against the outer part 4 of a roller bearing 5 of the universal joint. The first portion 2 has a channelled cross-section so as to provide a groove in to which part of the second component of the device may fit. The second portion 3 also has a channelled section, but in this instance, it is at least partially enveloped by the material of the first portion 2. |
