A magazine (4) is provided for different mobile telephone models, and non-enabled SIM cards. A reader-writer (5) reads and writes to SIM cards. A communication device (6) communications with a mobile radio network operator and banks or credit institutions. An output port (10) dispenses the mobile telephones or SIM cards. An Independent claim is also included for a method of operating a vending machine for mobile telephones or SIM cards.
