The telephone set (1) has a character presentation unit (121) for controlling animation display of a character based on the history information corresponding to an event upon occurrence of the event in the telephone set. A casing containing a key operation portion is provided. Another casing is connected to the former casing for opening and closing. A detecting unit (19) detects the open and closed conditions of the casings. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a character display presentation method (b) a program for a character display presentation method of a cellular telephone set capable of performing animation display of preliminarily stored characters.
