PURPOSE: A drive method of an electric pressure rice cooker is provided to reduce energy consumption by controlling a normal open type solenoid valve prior to a driving fan. CONSTITUTION: A drive method of an electric pressure rice cooker is composed of steps for inputting a cooking key to the choice of a user(31); operating a solenoid valve to block up a steam discharge port of the pressure rice cooker(35); performing a cooking process in a constant time after operating the solenoid valve and operating a driving fan for the radiation of a switching element(37); and stopping the driving fan and the solenoid valve just before the cooking process is finished(41). The solenoid valve is a normal open type. As a result, the electric pressure rice cooker reduces energy consumption by almost driving the solenoid valve only for the cooking time and stopping the valve during the heat-insulating time.
