The present invention relates to a one-phase microemulsion that contains an emulsifier system containing a branched alkyl glycoside of the formula (I): R1OGn, where R1 is a branched alkyl group containing 8-16 carbon atoms, G is a saccharide residue and n, the degree of polymerisation, is between 1-5, and optionally a linear alkyl glycoside with the formula (II): R2OGn, where R2 is a linear alkyl group containing 6-18 carbon atoms, G is a saccharide residue and n is between 1-5, a water insoluble oil component, water and, if needed, minor amounts of a cosurfactant/cosolvent. This microemulsion may be used e.g. in a cleaning process for removal of hydrophobic substances from hard surfaces or textile, and in personal care of pharmaceutical formulations. |
