PURPOSE: A device and a method for receiving a short message of Internet telephony are provided to make an Internet terminal receive the short message transmitted from a wire/wireless Internet terminal. CONSTITUTION: An SMS(Short Message Service) transmission server(103) makes an inquiry for the Internet terminal to receive the short message and transmits the short message to the Internet terminal by receiving a response. An address inquiry server(105) transmits the information for the Internet terminal to the SMS transmission server by requesting certification to a gatekeeper(130) including the Internet terminal. A gatekeeper inquiry server(107) receives the information for the Internet terminal by searching a database of a gatekeeper in case that the gatekeeper including the Internet terminal is a routed mode, and transmits the information to the address inquiry server. A database(109) stores the short message received by an SMS reception server(101).
