PURPOSE: A chain tensioner device for an engine is provided to obtain a stable hinge shaft of a tensioner arm without expanding the entire length of an engine and without generating the interference among various parts at adjacent positions, by keeping the thickness of a cylinder head wall of the engine equal to other parts. CONSTITUTION: A chain tensioner device for an engine includes a hinge boss(5) protruded from a wall surface of a cylinder head(1) to serve as a hinge shaft(3) of a tensioner arm(7) to stably support the rotation of the tensioner arm. Tensioner arm is formed with a boss coupling hole(9) to be inserted by the hinge boss. A flange bolt(11) is coupled with the hinge boss to prevent the deviation of the tensioner arm inserted by the hinge boss.
