PURPOSE: To improve the general-purpose performance and usability of the terminal controller by separating a control unit receiving an optical signal from a remote control operation device from a CATV terminal controller main body. CONSTITUTION: An optical signal from a remote control device RS is received by a light receiving device 21 in a control unit 20 and converted into a channel selection signal S1 and an input selection signal S2 by a controller 15. Plural TV broadcast signal St on a network are selected by a tuner section 11 controlled by the signal S1 and outputted as a video signal Sv1 and a sound signal Sa1 separately. An input selection section 12 selects the signal outputs Sv1 , Sa1 and signals from external input sections 16a , 16b and 22. A video processing section 13 displays a channel number superimposingly on a TV screen for a prescribed time after channel selection. A modulator 14 modulates the video signal and the sound signal into a prescribed channel TV broadcast signal, which is received by a standard television receiver. A CATV terminal controller main body 10 is designed to be a shape of general-purpose and located apart from the television receiver. The control unit 20 is designed to be small in size and light in weight and fitted to an optional position in front of the television receiver. |
