摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light responsive material which can respond also to visible light. SOLUTION: The visible light responsive material comprises at least anatase- type titanium oxide, and with which a main signal of 2.004 to 2.007 g-value and two sub-signals of 1.985 to 1.986 g-value and 2.024 g-value, respectively are observed under irradiation of light having >=420 nm wavelength measured by ESR at 77 K in vacuum, while these three signals are dimly observed or substantially not observed at 77 K in vacuum in the dark. The method for producing the visible light responsive material comprises heating amorphous or incompletely crystalline titanium oxide and/or titanium hydroxide (raw material titanium compound) in the presence of ammonia or its derivative, where the heating is terminated at the time when the absorption of light at 450 nm wavelength of the produced material becomes larger than that of a raw material titanium compound.
