PURPOSE: To provide the cotyledon detector of a grafting seedling, capable of accurately detecting the position of the cotyledon of the grafting seedling without injuring the cotyledon. CONSTITUTION: The cotyledon detector is provided with a laser sensor 14 comprising a light-projecting member 14a and a light-receiving member 14b which are installed in such mutually faced positions as to nip the hypocotyl 10b of the scion seedling 10, a lowering plate 15 for lowering the scion seedling 10, and a controller 16 for detecting the width (s) of light shaded with the hypocotyl 10b and judging as the position of the cotyledon a position where the light- shading width (s) is larger than a preliminarily set value. An estimated data at the border position of the cotyledon 10a is added to the data 1 of the light- shading width (s) of the hypocotyl 10b, and the obtained data 2 is compared with the present light-shading width (s) of the hypocotyl 10b. A position where the present light-shading width (s) of the hypocotyl 10b is larger is judged to be the position of the cotyledon. |
