PURPOSE: To provide a biaxially oriented polyimide film which has excellent dynamic properties and in-plane isotropy as well as dimensional stability, and production method thereof. CONSTITUTION: An organic solvent solution of polyamide acid containing a closed ring catalyst and a dehydrating agent is cast on the surface of a supporting body, and the polyamide acid is imidized and a gel film continuous body which has a self-supporting property and a solid content of 5-50% is formed. This gel film is stretched to 1.1-1.9 times in the running direction and 0.9-1.3 times the running-directional stretching factor in the width direction. |
