PURPOSE: A location information providing system and a location information providing method are provided to allow users to use a wireless LAN service even in the region where the service is not provided. CONSTITUTION: A location information providing system comprises an information service server(120) for managing messages and communications; a messaging server(110) for checking whether a message is received from the information service server, checking the subscriber on-line status, and making a request to an integrated information transmission server(150) in such a manner that the message transmitted from the information service server and the public wireless LAN service region information transmitted from a position information server(140) are transmitted to a terminal(160); a subscriber condition information server(130) for managing subscriber condition information and transmitting the subscriber condition information to the messaging server in accordance with the request of the messaging server; the position information server for checking the position of the subscriber, searching the public wireless LAN service region information around the subscriber from a public wireless LAN service region database, and transmitting the information obtained by the search to the messaging server; and the integrated information transmission server for transmitting the public wireless LAN service region information requested from the messaging server to the terminal.
