PURPOSE: A functional pigment using a low purity iron salt, its preparation method and a toner, a reductive catalyst and a paint containing the pigment are provided, to improve the magnetic property and the reduction and to reduce the cost by using a low purity starting material. CONSTITUTION: The functional pigment is prepared by adding an alkali to a mixture solution prepared from an iron (II) solution and an iron (III) solution to prepare an iron oxide (seed material); adsorbing Fe(OH)2 stored under nonoxidative condition on the surface of the seed material and oxidizing it with an oxygen-containing gas, and repeating the process at least one time to grow the seed material continuously; washing the obtained magnetite by the growth of the seed material to remove the impurities; and heating it. Preferably the content of Mn and Ti in the mixture solution prepared from an iron (II) solution and an iron (III) solution is 0.2 wt% or more, respectively, based on the total amount of Fe. Preferably at least one selected from B, Nb, P, Sr, V, Y, Mo, Pd and Ba in the pigment is 0.001-0.02 wt%, respectively, based on the total amount of Fe. |
