PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartridge case wherein a high density recording is stably performed by absorbing tension irregularity and flapping of a magnetic tape in a magnetic recording and reproducing device. SOLUTION: In the magnetic tape cartridge 10, a single reel 40, around which a magnetic tape 9 is wound, is housed rotatably in a cartridge case 20, 30, and a tape draw-out leader pin 80 fixed to the tip part of the magnetic tape 9 is held attachably and detachably. A tension absorbing device 100 for absorbing the tension of the magnetic tape 9 is provided in a free space inside the holding part of the leader pin 80. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
