PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform infrared remote control even in, for example, lock requiring tight security, by improving the security of the remote control. SOLUTION: When an unlocking switch 1a on a remote-control transmitter is depressed, a transmission pulse generating means 3 generates a number of pulses preset for unlocking by setting means 8 and 14a, and a light emitting means 4 transmits the generated pulses. A receiver, when a light receiving means receives the transmission pulses, counts pulses for a given time and compares the pulse count with a set value. Only if the set value is matched, an unlocking or locking operation is performed. Identification by a transmission pulse count in a given time enables, for example, the free setting of the number of pulses set in the given time. The preparation of a number of pulses set as keys provides tight security usable in a lock or the like. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
