PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swing control device for a swing type hydraulic shovel reducing an impact in an stroke end of the swing at a low cost. SOLUTION: This swing control device for the swing type hydraulic shovel is provided with a working machine 4 installed with a base end part swingably in the left/right by a swing pin 9 and swung by a swing drive means 17 in the front end part of an upper structure 3. This swing control device is provided with a swing angle detector 20 detecting that a swing angleαof the working machine 4 enters within a range of a prescribed angleβOright before the stroke end, and a controller 40 outputting deceleration commands iAand iBgradually reducing the swing speedωfrom positionsαLOandαROa prescribed angleβObefore the stroke end of the swing to the stroke end based on the swing angle signalαinput from the swing angle detector 20.
