<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device capable of surely setting the operation thereof based on operating information matching the electronic device without setting operations based on the operating information of another model even if model information is not asked to the electronic device from an external device beforehand. <P>SOLUTION: When a user desires to set the print density of a printer A among printers A and B to "4", an input command 13 having a printer specific command 14 and an operation set command 15 for setting the print density "4" as an operating condition matching the printer specific command 14 is inputted, and the input command 13 is transmitted to the printer A through a network 2. When the printer A receives the input command 13, a discrimination program compares a model number "8" thereof stored in the ROM 9 of the printer A with a model number "8" set by the printer specific command 14.
