<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer having a high print efficiency by setting an optimal packet size for each print job. <P>SOLUTION: A printer for printing print data received from a host computer sends back the transmission packet size of the print data in response to a first request from the host computer when printing is started, and sends back a receivable number of transmission packets in response to a second request from the host computer. The printer comprises an interface task for receiving print data of the number of transmission packets thus sent back, a buffer for storing the print data transmitted from the host temporarily, and a print task for commanding a print engine to perform printing by processing the print data stored in the buffer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
