PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extend the amplifying band of an exciting light source unit flexibly and successively at a small extending unit.

SOLUTION: In the exciting light source unit 2 with an amplifying-band extending function whereby its present amplifying band can be extended stepwise while maintaining its flat amplifying band, there are provided one or more LD modules LD1-LD3 and LD modules LD11-LD15 for outputting exciting lights covering its present amplifying band, one or more LD modules LD16, LD17 for outputting exciting lights covering its extended amplifying band, and a setting control portion for so controlling the resetting of outputs of the exciting lights of the LD modules LD1-LD3 and the LD modules LD11-LD17 under predetermined conditions as to flatten its whole amplifying band.
