<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the reliability of an elevator using secondary battery series as a power source. <P>SOLUTION: In the elevator, a battery monitoring circuit using the secondary battery series and other battery for supplying electricity to an electric device such as an elevator controlling circuit are provided. Furthermore, the elevator is provided a circuit for extracting the voltage of arbitrary secondary batteries from the battery series for driving the elevator.
