PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the occurrence of defective in a method of manufacturing glass capable of being formed into a ceramic. SOLUTION: The mineral glass consists substantially of 65-70% SiO<SB>2</SB>, 18-20.5% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 2.5-3.8% Li<SB>2</SB>O, 0.55-1.5% MgO, 1.2-2.8% ZnO, 0-1.4% BaO, 0-1.4% SrO, 0-<1% Na<SB>2</SB>O, 0-<1% K<SB>2</SB>O, 1.8-3.5% TiO<SB>2</SB>and 0.8-2.5% ZrO<SB>2</SB>expressed by weight in terms of oxide and if necessary, contains at least one kind of non-excessive but effective quantity of a clarifier. In such a case, the mineral glass has a composition satisfying conditions that BaO+SrO is 0.4-1.4%, MgO+BaO+SrO is 1.1-2.3%, Na<SB>2</SB>O+K<SB>2</SB>O is 0-<1%, (2.8Li<SB>2</SB>O+1.2ZnO)/5.2MgO is >1.8 and 2.2<(TiO<SB>2</SB>/ZrO<SB>2</SB>)<4.5, preferably 2.3<(TiO<SB>2</SB>/ZrO<SB>2</SB>)<4.5.
