<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for reading non-contact IC cards, which can reduce the time required for a communication process including a card authorization process without increasing the communication speed. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for reading and writing IC cards, which communicates with a non-contact IC card through an antenna used for communications, identifies whether or not the IC card is set as a communication object on the basis of ID data read from the IC card. The apparatus, at the same time, executes a sequence process A for transferring the ID data and card data, read from the IC card when identifying the communication object, to the host system and also executes a sequence process B for reading management object data from the IC card when authorizing the IC card as acceptable after authorizing the IC card by transferring the authorization data, and for transferring the management object data to the host system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
