<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of maintaining stable charging performance and image performance even in the case of long-term use by using an injection charging method. <P>SOLUTION: In the charging device for charging the surface of a body to be charged by bringing an electrifying member to which voltage is applied into contact with the body in the image forming apparatus, the charging member is constituted of a roller-shaped elastic foam consisting of closed cells, and the surface of the charging member has a speed difference with respect to the surface of the body, then conductive particles exist at least on the contact surfaces of the charging member and the body. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
