PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency comb for a multiplex network using optical frequency distribution which extracts a channel suited to the comb by using a simple and inexpensive demultiplexer and limits the influence of four optical wave mixture.
SOLUTION: In order to reduce the influence of a nonlinear phenomenon, the carrier optical frequency of a multiplexed signal belongs to optical frequency grids having regular spectrum intervals of a pitch df and further belongs to frequency combs having irregular spectrum intervals on the other hand. When M is an integer of ≥ N, the frequencies are is selected to be extracted from the multiplexed signal by using N cyclic optical filters having the same free spectrum interval Df equal with M×df, and by such filtering, N continuous frequencies are extracted from the grids. By selecting N carrier frequencies meeting these references in order to configure multiplexing, the channel is extracted by a conventional regular single demultiplexer equipped with one input and N outputs such as a demultiplexer equipped with a waveguide array.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
