<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce the data volume of image data obtained by reading recording information after the re-start of the reading when the reading of the recording information is re-started according to a shutter time after the optimum shutter time of a charge storage type image sensor is measured based on the integrated value of image data when the information recorded in an information recording medium is read by the image sensor. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 50 divides the image data for one face read in pre-capture into a plurality of areas, measures the integrated value of the data for each divided area, compares the integrated value of the data for each area with standard values, and specifies areas in which the integrated values of the data are more than the standard values as read areas.
