<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-efficiency projection system and a color scrolling method which realize color scrolling along the long axis of a light valve. <P>SOLUTION: This projection system is characterized by the color scrolling method, including the stages of splitting the light emitted by a light source by colors through a light splitter, arranging the rectangular light valve so that the long axis of the light valve is in the direction wherein the incident beam is split by the light splitter, and scrolling the light split by the light splitter along the long axis of the light valve, and the arrangement such that the long axis of the light valve corresponds to the color splitting direction. Consequently, the color scrolling is carried out along the long axis to remarkably increase light efficiency as compared with scrolling along the short axis. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
