PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing high-purity fullerenes having a small content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by easy operation. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the fullerenes includes processes of: (process A) adding a mixture of fullerenes, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and a carbon-based polymer component to an extraction solvent (solvent A) containing aromatic hydrocarbons to mix to obtain an extraction liquid containing fullerenes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons dissolved therein; and (process B) adding a solvent (solvent B) which forms two liquid phases with the solvent A and has solubility of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons higher than that of fullerenes to the above extraction liquid to mix so as to extract the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons into the solvent B side.
