摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine with a secondary air supply mechanism for generating sufficient negative pressure in a negative pressure type booster even when the negative pressure generated in an intake air passage is not sufficient for the booster. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine has a secondary air supply passage 11 for supplying secondary air to the upstream side from an exhaust emission control catalyst in an exhaust system of the internal combustion engine 1, an air pump 12 arranged on the secondary air supply passage 11 and an intake air negative pressure passage 16 for connecting the intake air passage 20 of the internal combustion engine and the negative pressure type booster 33 for boosting and outputting input by using negative pressure, and generates the negative pressure in the booster by at least either one of the negative pressure generated in the intake air passage 20 and negative pressure generated by the suction mechanism of the air pump 12, and generates the negative pressure in the booster by the negative pressure generated by the suction function of the air pump 12 when determining that the negative pressure generated in the booster is smaller than a prescribed value.
