PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic endoscope system with which normal observation and stroboscopic observation can simply be performed without making an operator feel troublesomeness. SOLUTION: This electronic endoscope system is provided with: a processor having a first light-emitting means for emitting continuous light for the normal observation of a region to be observed which vibrates fast with a fixed period; a stroboscopic light source device having a second light-emitting means for emitting stroboscopic light at a prescribed time for the stroboscopic observation of the region to be observed; and an electronic scope comprising a setting means for setting either of the normal observation or the stroboscopic observation as an observing method, a connection means to be connected with the first light emitting means and the second light emitting means optically and electrically, and an optical path switching means for switching an optical path so as to guide only light corresponding to an observation method set by the setting means among light emitted from the respective light emitting means to an illumination part at a distal end.
