PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sheet-like print by image recording using a recording paper roll. SOLUTION: A color thermal recording paper 13 is delivered to paired conveying rollers 14 from the recording paper roll 10 by paired paper feeding rollers 12. A cutter 19 is arranged upstream in the recording-paper feeding direction of the conveying rollers 14, and a thermal head 23 and an optical fixing unit 24 are arranged downstream in this order. The delivery and pull-back of the recording paper 13 are alternately repeated more than once. While the recording paper 13 is pulled back three times, a yellow image, a magenta image and a cyan image are sequentially recorded by the thermal head 23. A loop forming part 16 is provided between the rollers 12 and the conveying rollers 14, and the recording paper 13 during the pull-back is stored in a looped shape. Immediately before the recording of the magenta image and the cyan image, the yellow image and the magenta image are optically fixed by the unit 24. After the recording of a full color image, the recording paper 13 is delivered, cut along a cutoff line by the cutter 19 in this case, and ejected by being cut off as the sheet-like print.
