PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which realizes satisfactory image formation by controlling coating of the fixing device of an image forming apparatus with releasing agent oil to resolve coating troubles such as unevenness of oil coating like banding, offset and unevenness of gloss which are caused by oscillation of an oil coating roll. SOLUTION: An oil coating roll 6 of an oil coating mechanism part 18 is pressure abutted with a fixing roll 2 and a fixing belt 8 wound around the fixing roll 2. Oil from an oil holding part 14 is supplied to the oil coating roll 6 through an oil transport part 15, an oil discharge part 16, and an oil supply roll 7. The oil coating roll has≤300μm surface irregularities and≥10μm and≤30μm surface roughness (R<SB>Z</SB>), and an extent of biting into the fixing belt 8 of the oil coating roll 6 is set to≥0.5 mm.
