PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet curable adhesive which may allow substrates, to adhere to each other, having a whole energy line transmittance of 0.01% to 20% particularly in the line wavelength ranging from 280 to 380nm. SOLUTION: The adhesive composition contains, as essential components, a photopolymerization initiator Michler's ketone, 2-benzyl-2-dimethylamino-1-(4-morpholinophenyl)butane-1, 2-chlorothioxanthone, 2, 4-diethylthioxanthone, 2, 4-diisopropylthioxanthone, isopropylthioxanthone, bis(2, 6-dimethoxybenzoyl)-2, 4, 4-trimethylpentylphosphine oxide or 2, 4, 6-trimethylbenzoyldiphenylphosphine oxide as well as an ultraviolet curable compound.
