PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a glass member by which the glass member having uniform thickness and properties can be obtained in the production process for the glass member, comprising a process for heating a glass tube with a heat source moving relatively to the glass tube, and to provide an apparatus for manufacturing the glass member. SOLUTION: The glass member is produced by heating the glass tube with the heat source moving relatively to the glass tube while controlling the inner pressure of the glass tube at the position of the heat source to a predetermined value.
