PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively produce lactic acid in high yield from cassava (Manihot esculenta) pulp. SOLUTION: The method for producing lactic acid from the cassava pulp comprises a step (1) for subjecting the cassava pulp to primary lactic acid fermentation, a step (2) for treating the primary lactic acid fermentation product obtained in the step (1) with amylase and a step (3) for subjecting amylase-treated lactic acid fermentation product obtained in the step (2) to secondary lactic acid fermentation.
