PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magenta toner for developing an electrostatic charge image which can omit a classifying step which has been necessary in a conventional comminuted toner, which has proper transferability, a high resolution with a small particle size and a narrow particle size distribution, excellent gradability, proper dispersibility of a coloring agent, a high coloring strength, a high image density, a color equivalent to normal printing ink, and a high saturation and which satisfies proper cleaning properties and stably obtains chargeability for a long period. SOLUTION: In the magenta toner for developing the electrostatic charge image in which a toner composition containing a toner binder made of a urea modified polyester resin and the coloring agent is dissolved or dispersed in an organic solvent, the dissolved matter or the dispersed matter is dispersed in a water-based medium, polyaddition reacted and which is obtained by removing the organic solvent from the obtained reactant, the coloring agent is made of a Color Index Pigment Red 146.
