PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus to form a high-quality image kind to environment by an ozone-less non-contact optically pumped electric field electrifying method for electrifying the surface of a photoreceptor by the charge transfer of optical generating carrier generated inside the photoreceptor by an optically pumped electric field method without producing a discharge product such as ozone, NOx and nitric acid compound and without causing discharge by improving the transfer efficiency of a toner image to a recording medium and realizing the simplification of an eraser stage prepared for next voltage application/exposure, the miniaturization of the apparatus, small power consumption and the high durability of the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: An electrode consisting of a conductive layer is arranged to be opposed to the photoreceptor and the voltage applied area of the photoreceptor is irradiated with the light having image information in a state where voltage is applied between the electrode and the photoreceptor, and an electrification stage and an exposure stage are integrated to impart electrostatic charges having the image information to the surface of the photoreceptor.
