MEASURING APPARATUS OF VALVE CLEARANCE AND MEASUREMENT METHOD UTILIZING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring apparatus for easily and inexpensively measuring valve clearance even if a valve system is covered with a cam bracket integration type locker cover, and to provide a measurement method utilizing the measuring apparatus. SOLUTION: The measuring apparatus comprises: a body 20 that has a first flat contacting face 23 that comes into contact with a contacting face 10 in at least a pair of journal sections J1, J2having a recess 11 for retaining a cam shaft 5 by making back-to-back and a flat contacting face 10 following it and a second contacting face 27 that is in parallel with the first contacting face 23 and is separated from it by a prescribed length L1where a cut section S is formed at the side of the second contacting face 27; and a measuring probe 29 that is provided while it is at right angle to the first contacting face 23 in the body 20 and penetrates the cut section S while dimensions L2in a tip section 29a and a rear section 29b are equal to the prescribed length L1by which the first contacting face 23 is separated from the second contacting face 27. The tip section 29a of the measuring probe 29 is brought into contact with the deepest section A in the recess 11 to convert a depth L3in the recess 11 to a length L4between the rear section 29b of the measuring probe 29 and the second contacting face 27.
