PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a formation factor for an organ such as the kidney, etc., and an organ formation control factor and to provide a screening method thereof. SOLUTION: The organ formation promoter comprises a protein which has the same or substantially the same amino acid sequence as an amino acid sequence represented by a sequence number 2, its salt or a polynucleotide encoding the protein. The method for determining a compound or its salt having specific affinity for the protein or its salt comprises using the protein having the same or substantially the same amino acid sequence as the amino acid sequence represented by the sequence number 2, its partial peptide or its salt. The method for screening a compound or its salt which has changing binding property to the compound or its salt having specific affinity for the protein or its salt comprises using the protein having the same or substantially the same amino acid sequence as the amino acid sequence represented by the sequence number 2, its partial peptide or its salt.
