PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anomaly detector for a passenger conveyor for detecting a fall in tension of a power transmission belt. SOLUTION: A power transmission belt 8 is wound over a driving pulley 4 fixed on a driving rotary shaft 3 and a driven pulley 7 fixed on an input shaft 5 of a reducer 1. The shaft 3 is provided with a driving shaft speed detection part 18 for detecting the rotational speed of the shaft 3. The belt 8 is provided with a belt speed detection part 19 for detecting the driven speed (go-around speed) of the belt 8. A computing device 25 finds the driven speed (reference speed) of the belt 8 from the rotational speed of the shaft 3 and compares the driven speed (second speed) of the belt 8 from the detection part 19, thereby determining whether the belt 8 has a slip ratio or not.
