PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION DEVICE AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a highly accurate personal identification even though an unclear finger vein pattern with displacement is used, in relation to personal identification in an environment requiring a non-contact property.

SOLUTION: This personal identification device is provided with: a means for acquiring the finger vein pattern image without being contacted; a means for executing rotation correction by using the outline of the finger as a technique for extracting the vein pattern included in the acquired image; a means for normalizing the position of the finger image on the basis of a fingertip; a means for statistically acquiring the entire vein pattern by repeatedly tracing parts small in luminance from an arbitrary position of the image by an arbitrary length; a matching means for comparing only parts showing strong features in the blood vessel pattern; and a means for dividing the image into small regions to independently executing matchings by each small region and for evaluating the displacement amount in matching.
