<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element an optical axis of which can coincide with an optical axis of a light producing means without controlling level difference of a member on which the optical element is mounted with high precision. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element has an optical functional surface having functions such as reflection and refraction and a mounting surface for being adhered and fixed to a supporting member or the like and further the mounting surface 11 has a projection 13 on which part of the optical functional surface 12 is formed. By this arrangement, the optical functional surface 12 of the optical element 10 can be mounted with excellent precision even if height of the level difference 21 of a submount (member to be mounted) 20 cannot be controlled with high precision. Accordingly many optical parts can be incorporated in a package and cost reduction by miniaturization and integration of an optical module can be realized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
