PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-display system without needing a display control signal for multi-display from the outside, and to provide an image display method. SOLUTION: The image display device 200 is equipped with interfaces (201, 208) for inputting image data and outputting downstream, a DDC communication processing part 207, and a rewritable memory 206 for storing EDID information. If the image display device is connected to the downstream end, the EDID information is acquired from an image display device connected through the DDC communication processing part 207, setting display resolution information and interconnection information for example.
