<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique of polishing a ceramic coating accurately and efficiently. <P>SOLUTION: The ceramic coating polishing method consists of two processes: a paint 4 containing a pigment is applied to the surface of a ceramic coating 3 and the pigment is allowed to permeate the coating 3; and following the paint application process, the ceramic membrane 3 is polished. Permeation of the pigment into the coating 3 causes it to assume a color according to the polishing amount. Changing of the color of the coating 3 according to its polishing amount enables an operator to know the polishing amount ocularly.
