<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition which can uniformly form a hard coat layer excellent in transparency and scratch resistance and a hard coat film having the hard coat layer produced by applying the composition and glare shield properties. <P>SOLUTION: In the coating composition containing an ionizing radiation curable resin, a light diffusing agent, and cellulose acetate butyrate, the number average molecular weight of the cellulose derivative is 18,000-80,000, the content of a butyryl group in the cellulose derivative is 18-60 wt.%, and the content of the cellulose derivative is 0.1-15 wt.% of the solid content of the radiation curable resin and the light diffusing agent.
